LIGHT PENDANT THORN/WHITEFRIARS

Triple pendant light with Whitefriars bubble glass shades in ruby and amber. I have a spare Flint (clear) shade which will be included.

This light is from the Chelsea range and won the Design Council Award for 1960. Designed by Richard Stevens & Peter Rodd for Atlas Lighting, a division of Thorn in 1958

The light is in generally good order, the chrome is bright, there are a couple of scratches - but it displays well. A couple of the shades have some small chips to the top rim but this is concealed by the chrome collars and is not visible- as can be seen in the photos, nor does it affect the functionality of the light.

The 3 pendants hang at slightly different lengths, but can be adjusted from the top, at present the longest measures approx 27"

Three delightful ducks. Always a popular collectable. The FLC Aqua duck in the middle stands 5.75 tall and has a polished beak - unusual for this period of duck. Almost perfect condition, just a very tiny pin prick tooling mark on side of base. Price £ 210 + p and p.

On the left a traditional Flint duck standing 5.75 tall. He has a small ding to side of foot base towards the back and some tooling marks under the tail ( not unusual) . Otherwise no other scratches or damage. Price £ 25.00 + p and p.

On the right a transitional / earlier shaped duck standing 6 inches tall in a rich Ruby with clear beak and foot. There are some dings and tooling marks under the tail. The beak has a tooling mark across it which although looks like a scratch or a break, is just tooling mark. Due to the non-perfect condition, I am asking for sensible offers on this bearing in mind it is a scarce shape.

Very very scarce Arctic Blue scoop necked vase. Designed by Geoffrey Baxter, this colour appeared in 1959. Scarce Amethyst Water carafe and tumbler pattern number M122. No chips or cracks but some very light surface scratches commensurate with age. It is hard to find these complete and without damage., especially to the rim of the tumbler. But this is chip free.

This is c. 1964 and bears original label.

Rare and unusual menu holder which was a collaboration between Whitefriars and Dunhill.
The glass dish is a traditional bubbled bowl pattern number 9099 in Amber and the chrome plated metal menu holder has Dunhill, Made in England stamped on it. The holder can also be used for a cigarette ( or three) thus turning it into an ashtray. Price £35.00 + p and p. any question please email me.

Here’s a VERY unusual item. A Breast Pump made by Whitefriars for Maws ( I believe). They have been seen to have been made in some quantities in the Whitefriars work books so is a genuine article and a collaboration between the two companies.. Complete with rubber pump and the original brass gripping ring, this is a real talking point for a collection. Price £40.00 + p and p.

WHITEFRIARS Soda glass lamp

Rare Soda Glass lamp in Shadow Green, with what appears to be Teak wooden base and complete with pre-1963 label ( a bit worn!) Height to top of bulb holder is 10 inches. 8 SIDED VASE Pat 9781

This is Pattern No. 9781 - known as the 8 sided bud vase. It was made in 1972/73 as an alternative to the tricorn, but unfortunately it did not prove to be popular at the time. I am reliably informed that only about 200 of each colour were made. The catalogues show them in this Kingfisher Blue, Ruby and Aubergine. A very few were made in Meadow Green ( I know of only two so far!) In superb condition. £35.00 + P and P

HUGE piece of Cullet c 1980

Huge piece of Whitefriars Cullet measuring approximately 11 inches by 7 inches. Still bears a partial gold label. Geoffrey Baxter did not like waste of materials, so these large random sculptural shapes were acid polished on the sharp edges and were in the 1980 catalogue. Each piece will have been unique in shape. The packed weight of this piece is nearly 10 Kilos so would have to be sent by Special Delivery £20.70. Asking price is £200 but a reasonable near offer would be considered. These rarely come on to the market. They can be used simply as a sculpture (surrounded by candles they look amazing as a centre piece.) I am told that Whitefriars workers would also use them as garden ornaments.................any further questions Email me!
